Love is Sweet for Sara and Terce...

A sweet favor label that I designed and printed for Sara and Terce. The couple used this chic black and white design as a sleek embellishment to seal the candy filled glassine bags that they gave as favors to their guests at their recent wedding reception.

New Business Card Design - Creme de la Creme

In the past, I've worked with Trisha Cranor of Working Brides on several occasions on design projects for some of her lovely brides, but most recently Trisha contacted me to assist her in creating a special design for her other event planning venture Creme de la Creme. Of course, I was absolutely thrilled and eager to take on the special project of creating a chic new business card design for Trisha that would coordinate most perfectly with her current website design and layout for Creme de la Creme. The central focus of this fantastically elegant new design was a lovely chandelier graphic embellished with unique sparkles for an interesting look. The entire design was done in a color palette of varying shades of purple hues from dusty lilac to deep violet tones in order to provide a cohesive look in conjunction with the website design. To complete the look, a regal damask print was used as the background on the back of Trisha's business cards to provide an added element of depth and texture to the overall design. I just think that the design turned out so beautiful and of course, I am just so thrilled that Trisha is so incredibly pleased with the final results as well!

New Company Logo & Business Card Design - Monarch Branding

Stephanie recently contacted me to create a logo design as well as a coordinating business card design for her branding, promotions and marketing company based out of Los Angeles. Stephanie had a strong concept in mind in regards to the color palette used for her design and overall wanted a simply elegant design that was impactful without being too fussy. We had discussed the idea of possibly doing something related to butterflies since her company is named Monarch, but I wanted to do it in a clever way rather than looking too literal. With this in mind, I designed a few different concepts for Stephanie and below is the final design that she selected. Using a deep espresso brown tone and a striking marine blue tone the design features a very sleek and modern font style coupled with a slightly whimsical flourish design that has a lovely butterfly resemblance. Stephanie absolutely loved the final logo design and I truly love the way it turned out as well. For her business cards, I wanted the logo to take center stage and just embellished the central design with a fashionable border of a damask inspired pattern to complete the look.

Something Blue Shoes

As the old custom goes, something old, something new, something borried and something blue, so as the blushing bride why not go all out on your special day by wearing these oh-so lovely royal blue satin Manolo Blahnik's and make your something blue something spectacular! These stunning pumps are simply dreamy and would make any girl feel like an absolute princess on their wedding day. What makes these something blue shoes even more beautiful is the gorgeous crystal brooch detail that completes the fantasy. Most of you ladies probably recognize these shoes from the big screen as Carrie Bradshaw's perfect shoes from the amazing Sex and the City movie. As all of you devoted fans that have seen the movie know, these perfect shoes were a vital part of her perfect ending with Mr. Big! I just LOVE them and think that they are out of control fab-u-lous!

So as Carrie's says it best....

Project Runway Fabulous Wedding Gown Challenge

Project Runway is one of my most favorite shows ever, so you can only imagine how excited I was when the designers recently received a challenge to design wedding gowns as part of their collection to show at Bryant Park. Well, I just loved the wedding gowns that the designers were recently challenged to create and especially Kenley's over-the-top vintage glamour inspired gown. This gown is definitely a showstopper and would be amazing for the perfect quirky bride to wear on her most special of days...the stunning gown, embedded with soft feathers and a dreamy pouf of sensational tulle skirting...it's just so feminine, so unique and simply so very PRETTY!

Finally....A Design for Me =)

Believe or not, but I have gone for the past year without having an actual business card...can you imagine?!?!? This has been something that I have postponed time and time again and I am thrilled to say that I finally designed myself a card for Delovely a few weeks ago and just received the printed cards in the mail last week! I cannot tell you how excited I am that I finally took care of this very important and ridiculously overdue project that has been haunting me for months. I love how they turned out and wanted to share the design here on the blog as well. Here is what they look like....

A Special Treat....

Tonight I have a very special treat for our readers as Bonnie with Bonita J is our guest blogger and has written a lovely segment about the importance of matching your jewelry to your gown style for your wedding day. Bonita J specializes in stunning custom jewelry designs that are perfect for the blushing bride to wear on her most special day - her wedding day. They have a large selection of gorgeous baubles that would also make fabulous gifts for your bridesmaids, house party members, the mother of the bride, etc. Here are Bonnie's fabulous tips regarding matching your jewelry style to fit the look of your bridal gown as well as some lovely photos of just a small sampling of some of the beautiful jewelry pieces available at Bonita J as well. Enjoy!

MATCHING JEWELRY TO YOUR GOWN STYLE

Every girl dreams of how beautiful they will look on their wedding day their entire life. Adding that final touch of jewelry completes your bridal look, coordinating everything together. There are a few items to consider when selecting your bridal jewelry.

The first item to consider when selecting your bridal jewelry is the style of gown you are wearing. You need to consider the neckline style. This is important because your necklace will accent your gown beautifully if selected by the style of the gown you are wearing. If you are wearing a backless gown and your hair up, a great style necklace would be a lariat or back dangle necklace. These necklaces have longer strands that dangle elegantly down the back for that extra sparkle. A plunging neckline calls for a great y drop style necklace or a multi layered necklace accenting perfectly. A strapless gown works well with single strand, multiple strand and choker style necklace.

The second factor to consider when selecting your jewelry is the color of your dress. There is a difference between white and ivory and if your gown is ivory you need to consider ivory over white for pearl selections. If your gown has crystal and rhinestone embellishments, then selecting bridal jewelry with those same materials is the perfect way to get a finished and congruent look.

When the wedding is over and you are packing away your gown for maybe your future daughter or just for safe keeping, don’t pack away your jewelry. Many brides are opting to wear their bridal jewelry again after the wedding. This is the perfect way to keep those memories close and alive in your memory. A great accessory piece like bridal jewelry is the perfect addition to any jewelry collection and should be worn again and again.

BonitaJ.com offers fully customizable bridal and bridesmaid jewelry. All of our styles are 100% customizable to match your wedding colors, themes, styles and sizes. BonitaJ.com is offering an exclusive coupon to the Delovely Designs Blog readers. Save 15% Off of your entire order with the coupon code: DELOVELY2008 used during checkout. Thank You Card Design - Kathryn and Derrick

I recently posted about some monogram designs that I had created for Kathryn and Derrick for their upcoming wedding and also wanted to share a new project that I just completed for this couple. Kathryn contacted me looking for a design to coordinate with her current monogram to use for their thank you cards that the couple will be sending out after their wedding. After a little bit of creative reflection, I came up with the following design. It includes their main monogram design, but I slightly altered the design replacing their wedding date with the words Thank You and then I added coordinating calligraphy based graphics to create an ornate frame to border the exterior of the front of the thank you card. I love the elegant and formal appeal of the design and think that it is going to look absolutely fantastic on the finished product!

Availability Update....

I just wanted to give an update regarding availability for new projects and while I am currently booked throughout the next three weeks or so, I am still accepting new orders to begin towards the end of the month. Please feel free to email me should you be interested in discussing a new design order and I can discuss availability specifics on an individual basis based on your personal design needs.

In the works --- Currently I am working on numerous custom monogram orders along with several company logo designs and corporate identity projects as well as other wedding stationery projects such as custom invitation designs, menu designs, etc. As always, I will continue to post the final design results as I complete projects. I actually have quite a few projects that were recently completed that I will be sharing soon as well. The Etsy shop will likely be held off on for a while now since I have continued to be booked so far out with design orders, but I will definitely also post an official announcement once the shop is up and running. I have some other exciting new ventures in the works for Delovely as well and will definitely share once the details have been finalized. =) Thanks again to all of my wonderful brides and other fabulous clients for your continued support and I hope that everyone has a wonderful and blessed week!

Save the Date Design - Holly and James

One of my favorite projects that I have worked on recently was save-the-date designs for Holly and her fiance, James for their upcoming wedding in June of next year. Holly contacted me earlier in the year to create some stunning monogram designs in her fun color palette of vibrant hot pink and rich emerald green tones and I loved creating those special touches for this couple's big day. As you can only imagine, I was even more excited when Holly contacted me to create their save-the-date design. Holly wanted to include 3 fabulous engagement pictures that the couple had professionally taken (aren't they just the cutest couple?!?!?!) and other than that, she pretty much gave me creative control with the rest of the front of the card design and I definitely had a lot of fun with this project! Using lovely flourishing vine inspired graphics I framed each photo on the card and then accented with some funky coordinating accents across the middle of the card to complete the design. For the back of the card, Holly wanted to use one of her monograms as the main focus and then include the pertinent details for their upcoming wedding celebration to create a very simple and clean, yet very elegant look. Holly was completely ecsatic with the final results and I absolutely love the completed design as well. I cannot wait to hear the feedback from all of Holly and James' family and friends and hope that they all loved the save-the-date as much as Holly and James did!

Wedding Invitation Design - Genesis and Isaiah

Feast your eyes on this gorgeous new invitation design that I created for Genesis and Isaiah's wedding this upcoming January. I have been working with Genesis on numerous projects including custom monograms, favor labels and water bottle labels as well, but I wanted to go ahead and share her lovely invitation design because it seems so appropriate for the fall and winter months that are upon us. This design features a fabulous floral scroll embellishment using an unexpected combination of chic, modern winter inspired shades of espresso brown and silvery platinum tones. I love how the colors really provide a great contrast of color within the design and emphasize the overall textural appeal of the ornate scrolls and florishes gracing the corners of each insert.
